Storyteller and Fantastic Cook
What exactly does a professional writer do? In my case, I tell stories.
I’ve told stories about school boards and quirky townsfolk for a local newspaper, stories about events and ground-breaking research at a large university for its news department, and stories about the difference your gifts make to the people helped by non-profit organizations.
Those stories have been in print, in emails and e-newsletters, on websites, in videos and even in songs. They tie us together, connect us with our humanity, and help us understand who we are and what we’re all about.
Today, I tell stories for business and non-profit organizations through my business, Alight Communication. I also write stories freelance for newspapers and magazines, am working on a memoir and just write for pleasure on my blog.
I’ve lived in a lot of interesting places — I was born in England, lived in Barbados for a few formative years, and in the U.S. have made homes in Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina and upstate New York. I now live in Eugene, Oregon, with my husband and our blended family of 4 children in a lovely house with lots of bathrooms.
I’m an ordained minister through the National Spiritualist Association of Churches and a Certified Medium. When I’m not cooking a delicious dinner, I enjoy gardening, knitting, spinning yarn and playing music.
