Beyond the 95th percentile

And in today’s pose, Duncan seems to be saying, “I’m Number 1!”

He is. He truly is. He may be the largest baby in … Rochester, I don’t know.

Today we had our 2-month checkup (it’s been more than 2 months, I know, but we wanted a Saturday appointment). The “little” guy, he weighs 17 lbs 1.5 oz. Or he did this morning. He’s probably grown since. He is 28″ long.

I swear I’m not over feeding him (although I do sometimes call him my little foie gras – just for fun – there’s no force feeding of milk going on). The doctor says he’s absolutely fine and to keep doing what I’m doing. So I will.

He also got his first vaccinations today. 🙁 Daddy held him while the nurse tricked mummy into distraction by having her sign some papers and then it was all over. He’s been pretty good since – sleepy mostly, although we did have a fit of screaming for a while which some Infants’ Advil seems to have helped. One of his thighs was red and swollen, which was probably the cause of the wailing. Poor guy. So we’ve had lots of cuddles and movie watching today. Now he’s awake and smiling and drooling.

Oh, the blog title/subject. He’s not even on the growth chart. He’s “above the 95th percentile.” Which I gather means that he’s a giant among babies. We were left with the reassurance, if you can call it that, that his growth should slow down, oh, by the time he’s between 1 and 2 years old.
